This Is The Crap The NHL HAS To Stop

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE; Max Pacioretty was removed via stretcher after this hit and has been reported to be moving all extremities, and will be examined at a Montreal hospital.

No matter the level of play or circumstances surrounding the players/teams, this hit by Zdeno Chara was DEPLORABLE!!!  He is a professional hockey player and knows the rink and his size versus other players…  I wonder what the “Don Cherry” Camp has to say about this.

Wow, that was a cheap shot and willfully done with the intent to injure! That should be nothing less than a 10 game suspension and a $100k fine!

10 games should be a MINIMUM!!! Chris Simon has the longest at 30 games and Todd Bertuzzi had a 20 game set down due to malicious intent with hits… With the head shots high on the priority list more than 10 games is warranted in my opinion, this is no different than the Bertuzzi incident…

Not only a suspension and fine as Paul suggests, but send all medical bills to Chara as well.

Chara did not receive any suplemental discipline from the NHL for the hit.,Stating that it was not a “injury intentional” hit, just a result of a fast moving play.

Now I may not agree with the whole no suspension thing, but I also know that Chara is not a dirty player (aka Dumba** Trevor Gilles). Chara is actually one of the better players in the league and the NHL said they took that into account when deciding to give him a suspension or not.

Really, the Kudos should go to the Athletic Trainers of Boston and Montreal for handling the situation properly and showing all of us that it never hurts to practice your spineboarding!!

Agreed on the AT’s doing a great job. It has been reported that Pacioretty has a concussion and a fractured vertabrae (neck). I still beleive that Chara knew were he was on the rink, and raising his elbow was, to this observer, a bit much. This type of incident near the bench and half boards is rare, most players know where they are on the ice.

Watch the video a couple of times in slow motion, at :46-:50 and 1:38-1:41 — Chara appears to actually lift Pacioretty up off the ice and deliberately slam him into the glass. Take a closer look – It takes the cheap shot to a whole new level.

hey new parents do not allow your young children to play in a sport where this kind of behavior is tolerated
it’s a small price to pay for healthy children
